Default recording from preamps? toneport users??

    hey guys

i have heard great things about toneport, i like how it is small and cheap and does the job

im planning to record from line-outs on my preamp/power amps, without any preset stuff in the toneport...would the toneport retain any tube quality from the rack?

i tried going from preamp to computer, but it sounds worse than a digitech rp350.

also, the alesis multimix seems pretty cool too, in the affordable range, good quality...

i do not need to mic drums/bass/not even vocals. just guitar. would alesis be overkill?

    thx

Well, you can bypass everything in the Gearbox interface, so it should be a pure signal, but I have never used it that way.

You mean you're going guitar>pre amp> Toneport>recorder? That should work...

yes, thats the setup i am planning to try...however, i tried this using the rp350, which also records via usb, the tone is just pure crap...ruined the preamp tone...

did anyone actually use the toneport not as a distortion/modelling unit in the signal chain??

Why would you use a Toneport that way? It has pre amp models like Neve.
