need some help guys

It's the strangest thing.
About every 6-10 days I got this booger snooping around my shed.
The reason I know this is because he turns the spout on my gas can 180 degrees from the direction I keep it. ( like ready to pour ) and he turns it so the spout is pointed up.
Nothing is going missing, I have tools, a four wheeler, a lawnmower, weed eaters, my bass boat ,motorcycle, numerous other stuff all around the place and as far as I can tell absolutely nothing is missing .
I simply can't figure out for the life of me why someone is turning the spout around and not messing with anything else.
So my question is this :
How do I catch him ?
I've got a camcorder but it only will record for 2 hours and I don't know what time of day it's happening.
I also know it's being done in the daytime because I'll check it every morning before I leave for work and when I get home it'll be turned.
My wife swears she's not doing it and I know of no one else who would even think of doing something like that . I mean, hell, who in their right mind would think of turning a gas can spout around just to mess with someone ?

A camcorder will record for up to 6 hours, 8 hours even depending in the tape, as long as the recording speed is set to EP or SLP. You can even do this. Don't record on the camcorder tape unit itself, but rather a VCR set to EP or SLP with the 8 hour tape. Just use the camera to get the image and feed it to the VCR. You should be able to do that. And don't forget to cover the camera light.

no gas missing.. and that's the thing that's bothering me ,, as I said ..absolutely nothing is missing or miss placed other than the spout..

I can't find tapes to fit the camera that are longer than 2 hours ( it's a mini cassette type )
A guy here at work suggested taking the tape out of the camera and trying recording to the vcr , I may try that this afternoon. Only problem with this is I'll have to set them up at the house and telephoto toward the shed and as there are a lot of trees and shrubs I could still possibly miss him. If I set them up at the shed I'd worry about hidding them just my luck he'd see them and get both.
If I had found gas missing I had in mind to fill it about half full with water then " pee all over the spout ".

It's the point that someone is coming up here without directly letting me know that bothers me. Some of the guys I hang with have on occasion come by when we're not home but they've always told me either before or shortly after.
All I know is I've got to find out who it is ,, then I can deal with him one way or another..
