    Default bill lawrence pickups

I'm confused about bill lawrence, since there seems to be atleast 2 types of lawrence pickups both having same models and model names. What the heck is up with them? Is there a difference or are they the same pickup or are they even more crazy than i am(pretty crazy by the way!).

    No.

Just for starters, a Bill&Becky Lawrence L500XL now features an A5 magnet.

There's also supposed differences in service. For example since these suckers need non-standard pickup rings you better have one flat flat-bottom bridge ring for Fenders and a tall rounded-bottom ones for LP guitars. Seems easier to get this from B&B and in any case, that's where Bill sits, so...

I have a Bill & Becky XL500 in my Korina superstrat, and an original Lawrence (USA) XL500 in my 1989 Jackson Soloist.

Maybe there's a drastic difference due to the body woods between both guitars (korina vs maple), but they sound drastically different side by side. The Bill & Becky in the Korina sounds similar to a JB. The Lawrence USA in the Jackson sounds like Dimebag Darrell.

The thickness of the bar magnets are different on each- thicker on the USA, thinner on the Bill & Becky.

Customer service with Bill & Becky is great. You have no CS with Lawrence USA.

    At least that's my experience.

Actually the new B&B A5ed one sounds almost precisely like a SD Full Shred.

The ceramiced X500XLs basically are Dimebuckers. Not sure about the wire used, but should be awg44 in both cases.

Makes sense- the Full Shred is a JB with allen head screws, and explains why the B&B in my Korina strat sounds like a JB.

That makes sense, since there is a video of Dimebag saying he got his XL-500's from Stew Mac, which only sold the Lawrence USA's for years.

Again, this has been debated all over the place. Both are great pickups- though the B&B had better quality control over the years.
