There is a feeling of being in a truly awesome car that most drivers just don't get.
Awesome and 944...does not belong in the same sentence.

Quickly becoming my idol... I hope you know...
Hehe now I just need a license.... Cannot shoot any pics of it until then, and I will first show it when it is completely done, now it is just a car that needs lots of work and a repaint.

The Turbo shouldn't hurt gas mileage too much if at all, since it's just adding more air. But wait, are you saying the turbo engine is completely separate, and you're going to drop a whole new 300bhp+ engine in? Yeah, that might hurt your mpg a little bit. lol!

And thank you! The Falcon is a piece of crap. But it's a cool piece of crap. Like I said, just driving around, almost every time I park somebody comes up and says "hey, cool car! What year is it, 64?" I counted, and that happened 14 times Sunday and yesterday. And I'm not bragging about it, or not trying to, because it's truly a goofy car. No A/C, no power anything, no radio, paint's coming off, chrome screwed up, no mirrors, etc.

But for whatever reason, it's just cool.

I have two engines.. The original 1983 2,5 163hp that is in it now, and a 1988 2,5 turbo engine that has gotten a bigger turbo charger, bigger intercooler, better clutch etc etc and kicks out some 340-350hp. So yes it will hurt my fuel economy bad :P

Well pieces of crap tend to be nicer cars.. Mines got so much wrong with it too etc, but these old cars have soul and mojo to use guitarterms..

Yeah I agree completely and I get it about the engine now. So the Porsche is a manual? Very nice!

My 1997, 4 door, Pontiac Grand Prix GTP averages 28-30MPG. Not bad for a fairly large car with a supercharged engine.

Well I wanted a manual, but they're very hard to find. Lazy Americans don't like manuals. And this way, it is easy to snuggle up whilst driving. Left arm out window, driving, right arm around girlfriend. Comfortable!

3 speed automatic? If "Park" is a speed, then yes!

I routinely measure 30-32MPG in my '07 Accord.

    4 Runner w/ V-8= 16-21
    Cobalt w/ 4 banger= 23-30

I don't think so, but I'm not entirely sure what "bhp" stands for. It's the regular 4-cylinder, ~160 horsepower type. I drive anywhere from 70-80% on the highway (as opposed to city driving) and I'm sure I could be more efficient with my driving. To measure I use the sampe pump every time, run it until it stops itself and then calculate the MPG by dividing the distance I drove by the amount of gas I got. If I drive a lot in the "city" on the weekend it will drop down to around 28MPG or so.

Ah. I thought you might be running the J30. Still, 160's nothing to sneeze at and that's awesome gas mileage. BHP stands for brake horsepower and is basically your power before you subtract stuff like A/C, power steering, etc.

Yeah.. 160hp is not a small amount, especially not in a car like a Accord that isnt very heavy.

I did a quarter mile agaist my dads BMW 735i with a 220hp V8 a few weeks ago... From 0-60 I was way ahead of him etc. Horsepower isnt all, proper weight ratio, light weight etc all helps.

Btw Al, I was considering putting 22" spinners on my 944, wouldnt that be cool?

If you put spinners on that, I think I'll plan a vacation to Denmark!

There's no laws against maces on airplanes, are there?

Oh and the Falcon is only 2200 pounds (1000 kg), so it accelerates decently. I can routinely beat much better cars off the line. But the combination of 115 hp and 2 forward gears means that top speed is, umm, limited.

50-55mpg in town usually. Up to 65mpg on motorways and A-roads.
