Default So I'm Watchin This Nature SShoww The Other Night About Big Wild Cats In The U.K.

That tripped me out. Out there in the country places alot of folks have been seein big ole Panther lookin things. That's a trip man. I can totally understand how a big ole cat would love that place. I just never really pegged a cat for diggin that countryside, but then I thought about it. That'd be some good cat livin over there. Eatin sheep.

So, if you lived back in Gladiator days, and they actually gave you a chance to pick wich one to fight. What would you go for and hope to kill first...a Bobcat, Lion, Tiger, Puma, Couger, Panther, and it'd be like a five round fight if you could make it to the end.

    That'd be crazy man.

What trips me out is those dudes that keep big cats as pets. Big dogs are one thing, but those big cats are crazy. There was some asshat 5 miles north of me selling bengal tigers for $500 a cub. I can't even get the puppy I want for that, and it's nowhere near that rare! The way everyone found out is b/c a 6month cub was found wandering the streets after he escaped his backyard. The cops said he acted like a large housecat that wanted to be pet and played with. People are nuts.

LOL...asshat..I never quite understood that word, but it's always made me laugh....anyways...your first sentence made me think. That would be crazy man.

I'm just kinda speechless man. That would just be crazy to own like a couple tigers, and panthers and stuff. I couldn't imagine.

    I love cats.

Did I ever tell yall about that time I was 5 or so up in Cincinattti and that big ole black panther at the zoo took a big ole old fashioned crap and then turned around and ate it? Right in front of my face. It freaked me out. I didn't know what to think. My mother just grabbed my hand and said, come on son ..let's get outta here.

Reminded me of a trip to the zoo when I was a kid and a monkey had his organ pulled out and playing it like a wash-tub bass. My mom grabbed me by the hand and led me away also.

Over here in Northern Ireland, the law has only just been changed where people who keep big cats and such need proper animal housing and vet maintenance/certification.
As this is all quite expensive, said owners have been turning their big cats loose in the countryside, rather than pay the new bills.
This is not a big land mass.
Sightings are fairly regular, although most sightings are probably bogus for the media coverage.

Here is a somewhat soppy reunion of two lion owners re-united in the wild with a grown lion cub which they had reared as a baby then turned loose into the wild.
(just shows how good a memory big cats really have!)

Nope, bobcats are small, around 35 pounds or so. Pumas and cougars are really close though.

I'll be taking on a bobcat then, if needs be.

(I just want to know what I'm running away from, when I come across one of the born-frees out in the country over here)

That was Monster Hunters dude - I saw that. Panther wandering around England? I think it was some drunk English dudes that got in a fight with one of Simon's relatives...

Near where I live in Droitwich, England, theres a guy who kept finiding sheep caracases in trees in the woods behind his house (just behind my house too!) so he bought some Llamas to try and ward the big cats off. If you look on Wiki for 'Alien big cats Uk' then theres a bit on Droitwich and Kiddiminster, so i basically live where there are thought to be a population of panthers or something running around. I love it!

Puma and Cougar are just two of at least 30 names for the same animal in the English language. Other names are Mountain Lion and Painter. Subspecies of the animal are often named as Puma or Cougar (eg. Argentine Puma, Southern South American Puma, Costa Rican Cougar, North American Cougar), both are names derrived from native amercain names and then adopted via colonial languages. eg. Puma is taken from a Peruvian language and is a Spanish word and Cougar is French/Portuguese via a Brazilian language. So I guess Puma and Cougar are the 'proper' names for them

Bobcats are a different species altogether

If I HAD to fight them by preference of less difficult to most difficult it would be as follows:

    Bobcat
    Puma/Cougar (same thing)
Panther (I'm assuming you mean a black panther which is a type of Jaguar)
    Lion
    Tiger

Let it also be pointed out that there are quite a few other wild cats left off of the list:
    Lynx
    Ocelot
    Leopard
    Jaguar
    Cheetah
    Kodkod
    Jaguarundi
    Caracal
    Oncilla
    Margay
    Serval
