Totally.
Sounds like Layne never got over his childhood pain and always hoped his dad would come back if he got famous. He didn't.
Still, no pain...no pained music.
Most credits seem to be to Layne only. He seems to have had a big influence even on Cantrells tuneage.

I love the intro to that. it reminds me of a VH intro.

but in a Nutshell......

Inherently the fact remains that there are hundreds of bands that wear AIC's influence on their sleeves to the point that it almost seems redundant to even mention them.
So many bands have that influence but none of them nail it like the original did. Even a band like Godsmack that started out as a tribute to them never quite nailed it.
I can totally see in the future having my son raiding my CD's and grabbing "Dirt" and it being the last I see of it.

Man I agree wholeheartedly. They were awesome! I still think Jerry Cantrell has one of the best heavy guitar tones out there.
Matter of fact HERE is an example of one of my all time favorite guitar tones and my favorite A-i-C song.
I get weak in the knees at the sight of a vintage Fender amp!

I hope that happens one day.
It's some fantastic music man.

I never had a chance to see them but I love their music especially the vocals. I did see Jerry Cantrell with Camp Freddy here in LA and he is a monster.

one of my favorites too for sure. love these guys. the drummer sean kinney is underrated. good timekeeper and he comes up with some cool stuff. check out the drumbeat for 'no excuses.'
SG..vox..big muff

I saw em open for Van Halen one year. That was a trip. Two of me favss.

However, I will tell you this and this might just be sacrilage or whatever or however ya spell it. man, I love Alice in Chains, but I never could get into Jerrty Cantrell's tone. yeah, go ahead and shoot me.
