Default Superior 2.0 Test (Old Epic-as-hell Song)

I finally got this thing sounding close to what I hear in my head, and I gotta say... I like it more than DFHS! LOVE the snare and toms, kick is replaced 75%, and the cymbals took a load of tweaking (2 splashes, right hand crash, and right hand ride are from DFHS), but I got rid of the washiness and drowned out sound I didn't like from a lot of the clips posted before.

    Old version (oooold mix, DFHS):

    New version (S2.0):

    http://jefftd.googlepages.com/TLGS2_0.mp3

Neither has bass and neither are really that great but I think 2.0 is a huge improvement over DFHS!

I've posted this song in like two versions on here now, I think... hopefully you guys aren't sick of it yet!

I actually like the way the older version sounds. I like those toms and kick better. They seem to have more depth or something to them, but I just like real deep sounding drums. However, the ride and snare sound alot better on the new version. Both versions still sound great though.

    I prefer the new version.
The toms are more articulate like i like.
it sounds tigher and more like a technical drumer.
The bassdrum is not my taste ,but it fits well!
The Cymbals sound not bad...Bu i don't like the compression on them

I'm with Jolly. The first version sounds better. Cool jam bro!

I always find that programmed drums sound the least convincing for metal, as the quick flurries seem to sound too perfectly quantized. I really liked the guitar work, and the tone was also good. I have really liked what I've heard from Superior 2.0 in general though.

I thought the cymbals sounded strange in the second version, but the snare was better; thicker sounding, without being overpowering.

    Love the guitar tone.

Like the first one more. The second sounds very processed and fake, and lots of clicking sound. I vote Addictive Drums always but DFHS is sure the winner here.

I need to work on adding depth to the snare/toms a bit and the kick was just my usual sample/processing. I'm still torn on OH's, as the old one does fit a bit better, cymbal wise. I'm not sure if that means Superior 2.0 isn't as good for metal or if I need to play with it more, but I'm starting to lean towards the first choice.

Acoustic drums, though, no contest, goes to S2.0 I still say. I'm going to do another bounce today of DFHS cymbals with the acoustic kit from S2.0.

The clicking is just the attack on the snare/toms/kick - it's desirable and adds clarity I'd normally loose at those speeds.

Addictive Drums has to have the worst sounding cymbals I've heard in a drum program, in all honesty. The OH's are always pumping and sound way washed out, regardless of how real the performance sounds.

i listened to some of the second, but by the time I went to the first, the bandwidth was exceeded. now I can't hear either one.

second sounded cool to me, what I heard. panning sounded a bit odd with the ride - majority is on the right, then a little jingle bell comes in on the left. maybe the jingly thing I'm hearing isn't a ride? I typically pan stuff like I'd hear it if I were behind a drum kit (with the bell and the normal ride on the right somewhere), but that's just how I do it. I think some people do it as if they were standing in front of a kit, and a third group pans drums all over the place to make it sound interesting.

Bummer about the bandwidth... I'll have to find a hosting service other than google!

I do pan drummers perspective, with the bell of the ride on the right - the 'jingly' thing you hear on the left side is a second ride .

I'll try it again when I'm back home with my cans. Dang, two rides - that's tight.
