So where is monster island?

That has to be one of the worst looking statues I've ever seen. Seriously, who approved that for public display? I've seen better statuary in a kindergarten class.

Monster Island is right near Milwaukee, WI.
I honestly don't know how I feel about it. As the article mentions:
"the statue is meant to represent a time when life was simpler."
"It's a perfect symbol of optimism,"
"The most famous thumbs up in the world."
I suppose it's better than being known as the home of Jefferey Dahmer. But what I don't get is why now? The show was canceled 30 years ago. It doesn't seem to be coinciding with any new movie, or any other sort of PR stuff. It was just someone's idea of a genuinely appropriate symbol for our city.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy!!

The phrase on the sign says it all!

If this is paid for by taxpayer money, I suggest a public hanging at noon tomorrow, at city hall!

A friend of mine who works downtown witnessed the spectacle at lunch yesterday. This is an except of her email description to me:
"No autographs, no upfront & personal sort of view--but Mrs. C. certainly does look great. Laverne couldn't shove her Culver's custard into her cake hole fast enough. Lots and lots of people so we were bobbing & weaving just to get a glimpse of Joanie's cleavage. I was a good 100-200 yards away and I have a black eye. I also firmly believe that Mrs. C. & Potsie are sharing a room at the Pfister."
