Default My old '57 Goldtop up on Ebay

Looks like Lee Moore has my old '57 Goldtop up for sale on ebay. It's a dream to play and was my dream guitar, sadly I had to sell her to pay for medical bills and now Lee is having to do the same.

Sorry to hear about his terrible medical problem!

So, Jumpmarine.....how does it feel to see your perfect goldtop reliced???

I'm looking at it, imagining it was once mine. Pretty trippy.

No comment on the relicing....but Lee's a good guy and I thought that I'd spread the word on the auction.

That's a real bummer!! Although, for me, I'd be po'd about the relic. I just don't get relicing -- why make something new look old? Who want's old crap?!! Let's hope this trend doesn't catch on with cars and homes!
I started out with nothing...and I still have most of it left.

It's kind of funny and sad.... I originally bought it from Lee..... he was gracious enough to buy it back from me a year later when I needed the cash and now it's up for sale again.

At least the relicing job looks great. I'd love to have that guitar, but I'm happy with my minty goldtop. It's been played and fret dressed, but I've gone out of my way to not get dings.

Lee Moore has really gone all out with recreating Allmanesque LP's, such as this Dickey Betts, and other burst Stds. I heard he even had Maricella listen to an Allman track, and get her to wind to Duane's exact tone. And he's done some other great aging on some other sweet guitars.....the ones he's keeping, I'd imagine.

I agree with you, Lee has a collection that would make anyone turn green with envy. His CS brockburst and Pearly relic were a couple of my favorites and he's nuts about attention to detail. I think that he just about drove MJ nuts with that set of ABB pups she was winding for him.

Wow, that's a shame Lee had a stroke and is unloading everything. Is his other stuff listed on LPF or TGP? I'd like to help out if possible.

You'll use it, boy, and as long as you hate using it, you will use it more wisely than most men would. Wait. If ever you don't hate it any longer, then will be the time to throw it as far as you can and run the other way.”

It looks great to me and if I had the cash it would go nicely with my '57 B.B thats beat up.... however, I feel for the guy and it's sad, if I DID have a decent amount of money I'd just send him the cash and tell him to keep it! It's a real bummer when you HAVE to sell, I know many of us know that sh!tty feeling. Wish I could help him out.

I didn't see anything on the LP forum about the LP other than a couple of posts expaining why he'd been gone for a year from the forum.

Sorry to hear about Lee's med sitch. All the best to him. I also feel sorry for the guy cos he got absolutely lambasted here (unfairly) by a few of the younger a$$hats in a " are relic's cool" thread. Unfortunately Lee got right back into it with a few of the a$$hats instead of just ignoring them. I never saw him round here much after that- don't know if it coincides with his stroke or not.

Personally I think that Goldtop was gorgeous before (and I remember Jump having to sell ), and I think it loos even better now. Great relic job. I've come to like the well used look in guitars. I think the only thing that would bother me are the 6100 frets, yikes.
