Is it possible? How does it look like underneath the cover?
Like 2 singlecoils or like a dimarzio?

welcome to the forum!!
my guess is that it cannot be done with out killing the pup. i tried to remove the cover on an emg 81 and it was not pretty.
emg says: never remove the covers
and on the SD homepage there is a FAQ how to remove them.
So maybe its not impossible? nobody here ever tried? I contacted SD but they didnt answer

Well, most of Seymour's passive, covered pickups are wax potted or just soldered on. Taking the cover off of those is easy. These are the type of covered pickups that are referred to on the Q&A on the Seymour Duncan website.
But with most active pickups, they are filled with hard epoxy under their covers. This is not easily removed once you remove the cover. The epoxy doesn't come of easily if at all, making it ugly as sin. Sometimes trying to remove it can damage the pickup all together.

And why would you want to remove the cover on a Blackout?
just for the style only^^
does someone know, which pickup without cover sound like the blackout? even if its passive.
Because when I buy a new pup it should be perfect^^

i dont think youll find any thing else that sounds like a blackout besides a blackout. are you trying to get the look of a traditional double black bobbin with the sound of a blackout?
yes i want that look and the blackout sound^^
ok the picture is a 7string humbucker but u know what i mean =/
The only pickups that are claiming to make those kinds of sounds as passives are Dimarzio's D-Activators. They sell them in 6 and 7-string. You would not attain this look by "removing" a cover from Blackouts. If you want this look, I would recommend a Duncan Distortion 7 paired with a 59-7. That's a great combination for cutting metal tones. It is not the tone of Blackouts, but neither is the D-Activator. If you want Blackouts tone, you need Blackouts, and they need to be under covers.

If you take the cover off of your Blackouts, it's like taking the skin off your body. Only, the Blackouts will be uglier looking. And you could live a few minutes longer without your skin then Blackouts can live without its cover.
In other words, don't try this at home or anywhere else.
