Default fave song by The Who was not sung by Roger, nor Pete

it was written and sung by Thunderfingers, the radio informed me

"My Wife" from Who's Next always makes me drive faster and sing along, and it was one of the ones that made me think Roger was such a great rock vocalist. Amazing how John imitated Roger so well. And I've always dug that Explorer bass he played with Boris's spider web on it!

Who's Next is such an incredible album!

Indeed. I just bought it about a month ago, and all the songs are great and Townshends guitar playing/tones sounds great! If the album only had some more of it.

but the point is, here I am for 20+ years or whatever thinking Roger Daltrey is great, and he is, but largely based on how well he did on this particular song (My Wife), one of my favorite Who songs, due to the vocal melody, the inflection, the just-right emphasis on key words in the lyric.

--except it was John Entwhistle singing it!

...and I'd like to re-emphasize the coolness of that spiderweb Explorer bass of his

John's Who songs were always a good time!!! The Quiet One from Face Dances was always an amazing Live Number!!!! as was Heaven And Hell from 1970... My Size from John's first solo album in 1970 is also pretty cool!!!

as far as My Wife goes i always liked the live versions from 1975/76 that have appeared offically and un-offically... on Youtube look up a grainy video of My Wife from Cleveland 1975!!!! what an amazing live piece!!! Pete was in fine flying forum!
