Will a parallel wired Jazz be too weak?

I am using the 2 HB, 2 Vol, 2 PP, 3 Way wiring scheme from here at SD in my PRS CU22.
Only splitting with the PP's using a Jazz neck and CC bridge at the moment.
Would like to get an idea of what parallel is going to sound like before I heat up the iron.
I know that parallel is half the output of split... but I like the fact it is humbucking.
Is the Jazz to weak to even think about running it parallel?

It may sound fine but my guess is it would be too weak to be very useful.

Also... Can I still add treble bleed caps to a parallel circuit? Like anything else?

A much better option is Artie's coil swap mod. Parallel is so puny & thin, and while coil cut has a little more volume & bite, coil swap is better than either of them.

Coil swap combines the bridge slug coil & the neck screw, and then the bridge screw & the neck slug. The volume is slightly reduced, & the tone is open & not as harsh as coil cut. You create a virtual HB like a Strat in position 2 & 4. You also get the desrirable effect of unbalanced coils, along with noise reduction. Everything good without the downsides.

As a guy who's re-wired dozens of guitars over the years (almost all with push-pulls), I don't see the need for parallel & coil cut anymore, when coil swap is superior in every way.

But when I look at the diagrams however, it doesn't show the ground wire going across the bottom of the two terminals... like in a regular coil tap ????? Do you know what I mean?

Have you tried the Stag Mag in Parallel?

I dig this Jazz so much in Series already... almost gets a Straty tone already! I want to try the coil swap mod.

Yes, that's one of the diagrams. The pot on the bottom is the coil swap; the pot above it is adding a coil cut to it, which I haven''t used together with coil swap. Coil swap is so good on its own.

I'd just go with coil swap & skip the 2nd pot for coil cut. Keep it simple. There's a diagram on one of these threads that shows just the coil swap pot by itself. Very easy to do. You normally connect the red and white wires & tape them off. Coil swap just connects those red & white wires to a push-pull, everything else is the same.

1) Standard DPDT push-pulls have 6 lugs on the push-pull section, 3 per side. On the push-pull (using SD color code), attach the red wire from each PU at the bottom lugs, & the white from each PU on the middle lugs, and make an "X" running the bottom left lug (red wire) to the top right lug, and the bottom right lug (the other red wire) to the top left lug.
2) When a push-pull is "down" the bottom 4 lugs are active (2 per side). When you pull it up, the top 4 lugs are active. This means that the middle lugs are always on, but that the top & bottom lugs may be on or off, depending on whether the the push-pull is up or down.
3) Making an "X" shape with the red wires, is what swaps the coils when you pull the knob up. The white wires are paired with the red of the other PU. Therein lies the magic.

This is ingeniously simply and gives very usable noise-free tones. This is one of the best alternative wirings there is. Courtesy of a local boy, our own Artie, who is an electronics wizard.

I never thought that parallel with a Jazz neck was thin or weak. It seemed as though it was almost as powerful as the full humbucking mode. It's also cleaner and has better harmonics. If it turns out to be like anything in the guitar that I tried it in, I'd highly recommend it.

I am confused of course... What happens when you put the 3 way to Bridge or Neck when the PP is pulled. I mean this only works for one sound right? When the opposite Slug and Screw coils are combined.

I am reading your instructions over and over... lol I've got to figure this out....

Yes, the coil swap with one push-pull is great, should come standard on any HH guitar. Very simple, but it does so many cool things.

You get two new sounds: When you lift the push-pull, & the toggle is set to bridge, you get bridge slug coil/neck screw coil. Flip the toggle to the neck, & you get bridge screw/neck slug. In the middle toggle position you get all 4 coils (both from each PU) so there really isn't a difference there, as you got all 4 coils before in that poisition.

When this came out at the beginning of the year, there was a diagram with one push-pull (from Artie), and that's what I've used.
