Default DeMartini: Invasion of Your Privacy

Does the Warren DeMartini custom shop pup aim for the Invasion of Your Privacy tone? I've read somewhere that DeMartini used a JB at one point, but I'm not sure if that was the recording he used it on. If so, then is there a tonal comparison between the two pups?

as far as i know WD used a JB on everything Ratt ever did. the new custom shop pickup was only used on the new live tour and in his new signature charvel.

The signature pickup has an A2 mag opposed to the original JB with an A5.

It's easy to nail WD tones with a regular JB. I thought my SL2H might be a hang up because of the body construction, but it just goes to show you how much more influenticial the pickup is to getting the tone.

Yeah, DeMartini used a JB forever. For the record, I just want to say that though Ratt is a horrible band, they are a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. Most of it is because I genuinely think that Warren is a fantastic guitar player. He was a little more cool and bluesy than Lynch, but he can still burn like nobody's business. He was a quintessential 80's guitar player, but he had good phrasing, he rarely EVER tapped, had great vibrato, was tasty, and his fast runs never seemed too over the top. I would have liked to see what he would have done in the context of a better band. Easily one of the best guitarists of the 80's.

As other have pointed out, DeMartini's tone with RATT can be had with a JB without any problems.

Back in the 80s, I used to think that too (I was more into Heavy Metal than Glam Metal).

Today, I really enjoy Ratt and playing there songs.

Warren quite possibly had the greatest tone of the '80s.

I wish I could find out more about it, but rumor has it that Warren's Marshall was one of the ones the factory used to copy for the reissues.

I have also read that Warren had used both Aspen Pittman's and SIR's famous Marshalls.

Yeah, Ill chime in to say that Warren was, and Is one of my favorite players.. Both tone and style..

You got onto marshalls.. The first time I saw them, they were running Laneys and it seems like the second time too... This was in support of the 1st and second album and they were still opening..

What I'd really like to know is if his JB back in the day had an A2 in it?

No, it was just a standard JB.

...looking for a good description of the SD Custom Shop Warren DeMartini pup. I know it was designed for the Charvel WD model, but how does it compare to...say... a JB or a '78? ... or any other pickup for that matter?
