    Default My dream neck

So, my #1 is a Lone Star strat with maple neck - no fret board(nekid). But I also have my very first one, a plywood body foreign made Kramer Striker. Here is the thing, 12th fret and on I love the wide space of my strat neck, yeah I actually like that extra length in the second octave. But I've been really digging my striker neck before the 12th fret. Also, I still like the thickness of the sound on the strat, I dont know whether its the fact that its a 1k+ strat vs a plywood $200 kramer, but could the head stock be the difference ? So, here is my dream neck, maple no fret board, 60s/80s strat head stock, 1-12th fret spacing of Kramer Stirker, 12-21st fret spacing of a lone star strat? is it possible ?

I don't see why not, the taper from the nut to the end might be a little...weird? But I don't see why it couldn't be possible.

my Plywood Striker guitars from the 80's had necks on them that i liked... they had thin nut widths i believe on them for an R2 floyd nut... your Lone Star Fender has a slightly larger nut width... but i'm positive the heel width on the Strikers was the same 2inch 3/16th width as Fender uses... i mounted one of my old Striker necks on a custom made tele body i did a few years back...

what year and model of Kramer is it you have... they had quite a few with many different specs to them..

Those Kramer necks feel nice... they are made slightly thicker then Fender uses... i guess so they sit higher in the neck pocket to work better with Floyds.. I bought an old 87 Striker a few years ago i stripped for parts... $99 it cost me was worth the like new Dimarzio in it alone... the neck i may use for something oneday but it was baddly scalloped by a no brain no skill past owner... he even took chucks of fret out when he did it and the dot markers are gone!.. but i may be able to save it with some fine touch ups and a refret

This is the one I have, only it gotten a fret dress job, a set up and re-wiring since then.

Actually my fender neck is thicker, and I like that way. And I like the width of the neck of a lone star neck too, its just the spacing between frets 1-12 is sooo nice on the Kramer. I would love to have a classic late sixties strat body back routed for H/S with a neck like that.

by the Kramer neck being slightly thicker i meant more at the heel... not the profile shape... but ya they do feel nice... i will try and pick up some better Striker necks in the future if i see them... must be better ones then the 2 junkers i have out and about for cheap...

I had a Striker in the mid 80's.....I loved the neck too! It would make a nice guitar with a real (not plywood) body.
Only you can decide what "good" sounds like!

yeah, I a thinking either swamp ash or maple body, back routed for H/S(in the neck) with some sort of trem lock.
