I did.

Ever since I discovered melodic death metal (Gothenburg) five years ago my desire to play guitar has gone down the tubes. First I can't play it, even with a lot of practice. Second it expresses what I want to hear, so I no longer aspire to express myself. Third my amp can't do it and since I don't have the desire to play, I haven't made the investment in equipment to play it.
I have plenty of computers, but without a reason to play, I don't have a reason to record anything.

'Cause I suck. I am the king of three chord rhythm chumps and power chord jesters. And I play simple pentatonic lead riffs. Malcolm Young and Ace Frehley rolled into one. And frankly, that's all I want to do. I can slam dance, but not tickle the ivories.![]()

I don't record purely because I can't afford a decent software drum program![]()
In total I spent about $70 for all my recording gear.
Here is the lowdown: $50 for Line 6 toneport GX, for drums I use drum freeware cause its free, for recording software I used Reaper for 30 days free and Audacity since it is free. I dont own a bass so I just record bass with my $250 guitar and throw an effect called "octavizer" on it via Reaper. My recordings are only demos, and Im having fun with them, thats what matters.
So not having money to record demos aint no excuse far as Im concernedmust be another underlying reason IMO

I do.
Im surprised cause there's a lot of "tone gurus" in this forum, but its like a desert on the clips&tips section, and seems that everybody has great knowledge of tone but nobody wants to post their clips!

I have a little bit, but have been meaning to get around to posting more.

I do, I just haven't posted anything in ages cause I've got like 3 projects in limbo.

I can't wait to get my **** AxeFX! I've just now sold enough stuff to buy it, just gotta find one for sale!

Yeah, I live in Australia though bro.
The latest Toneport would set me back 170 bucks, and the cheapest drum program I could get is perhaps 50 US dollars for Acoustic Beatcraft
Audacity, I found to be a supreme pain in the butt to use to be honest.
The octavizer plug in/effect, has got my interest though, since I also only one guitars and no bass.

-Having to fight the software every step of the way makes me lose my creative boner.
-What I hear in my head/play by myself (sans metronome) is often too difficult or time-consuming to try and translate to programmed drums... or maybe I just have no rhythm.
-On a related note, I am not a drummer, so any drum track I do manage to lay down is usually bland an uninspired.
-It seems that I could lay down scratch tracks forever and never be satisfied enough with a tune's rough sketch to commit to refining it without wanting to start over from the beginning each time I attempt a session.
-Why record something that has probably been done a million times over by more talented artists?
whoa thats insane! I paid $50. so that means it costs 2-3 times more over the pond.
Dude, just try the octavizer. its free! for 30 days at least - http://www.cockos.com/reaper/ just download that and some drum freeware already
