    Default plastic scratch remover?

    Hi,

the scratch plate I intended to use for my strat project has been knocking around so long it's extremely scuffed and scratched on the face of it (noit deep scratches, but looks aweful now...

Is there a sort of plastic scratch remover I could use on it to make it better than it is at the moment?

    Thanks

    I call them love marks.

The more scratches you got... the more hot and heavy you play.

Play Black gospel some time. I got a bunch from the wakka wakka stuff.

Sorry I can't help you there man... You'll grow out of the must not have scratches phase soon enough. :-p

    I recommend Warmoth pickguards.
Candy Cola 2006 American Fender standard rosewood: Dimarzio Paul Gilbert Prewired pickguard, Callaham bridge & saddles, wife's hair band, and Fender Deluxe Schaller Locking Tuners.

    Hi,

No it's not a 'I hate all scratches thing' my other guitars are covered from playing. this is na unused guard, that's got millions of light scratches where it's been sliding around in a desk for AGES... it looks dull and awefull. not useable really. Don't want to have to buy another if I can help it though.

    Thanks

you can get Novus products at online retailers or on Ebay . . . I think they have distributors outside the US

ever since that relic trend grew in popularity people have new-found appreciation for their old and abused parts...

BTW, my (cheap) black pickguard is just full of scuffs and stuff.
In the beginning it bothered me to no end but the more it got and the duller it looked the less it bothered me.
Try it for a while, if it keeps bothering you then try to do sth about it...

Sometimes McGuires glazing compound works to remove light scratches and swirl marks. You can buy it at most automotive parts supply stores.

    Hi,

It's not just a few 'playing scratches' the thing is literally covered in very fine small scuffs and scratches. It looks aweful on my guitar because I refinished it in nitro vintage white which looks pretty 'new' so it doesn't suit it even to pass it off as a relic.

    Thanks for the suggestions

I've honestly used white toothpaste and it worked great.

Now that you mention it I've heard of using white toothpaste as a home remedy for scratched CDs.

I dunno how great it'd work on the CDs (some swear by it along with Braso) but I could see it work for a white pickguard.

    Hey, stranger things have happened...

    Plastic cat scratch fever.

I tie that axe behind my ride and make a few laps around the block. Them huge cracks fade little scratces. For the same process, some guys pay for Fender many-many extra bucks.

Hey, Thanks, I've ordered some, the only product I found that was affordable and worth a try without just buying a new guard!

There's a few small deep scratches but I really don't care about a mirror finish guard, I just want all the scuffi-ness away

any specific advice on how to use it with a scratchplate?

    Thanks
