Default will regular Fender pickup covers work on SSL-5??

I'm building a strat project and I like the Fender CS 69's, but want a little more in the bridge, so I was thinking the SSL-5 would be a good choice. Thing is, I'm going for the vintage look with aged white plastic on a mint green pickguard and I want the pickups to all match. So I don't want the bright white SD cover with the SD logo on it. Will a Fender single coil pickup cover work over the SSL-5?

I don't have any Fender covers here to try but I think they should fit. I also have the SSL-5 in the bridge position in my Strat. I'm using WD Strat covers. I also have Dimarzio covers as well.

I put an SSL-5 in my Fender MIJ 62 RI Strat recently and used the Fender pickup cover with no problems.

The SSL-5 is an excellent choice for 'a little more in the bridge'!

On rare occasions SD Strats have shorter polepiece spacing. I never found out why and how, but I posted photos of mine a while back.

Don't blindly assume that all SD covers fit Fender, since not all SD covers fit all SDs.

Seymour Duncan does not make Strat single-coil covers. Most single-coil pickup covers should work just fine. Although you may have to twiddle a little bit.

They also don't make humbucker pickup covers, yet covers used by others (Dimarzio, Gibson) do not fit on Duncans and Visa-versa, which is why I was wondering if anyone had first hand knowledge about it.

I´m not too sure about this, I bought a set of Duncan logoed SC covers off Warwick (european Distributor) a few years back, so I´m inclined to think that they may have been available at a time if they no longer are.

But yes, any normal SC cover should fit fine if you´re not trying to cover a quarter pounder or hot stack. I think there are 1 or 2 oddballs left in teh line where standard covers don´t fit 100%, but I´ll be ****ed if I can remember which ones ....

As far as humbucker covers go I´ve never had any issues with standard vintage spec covers fitting, save on Trembuckers..... The important thing here is the hole spacing needs to be exactly 49 mm center to center or the holes and poles won´t line up properly.

I think the point that was trying to be made was that SD doesn't injection mold it's own covers, it just passes them through.

I have an SSL-5 that the Fender cover didn't fit over the pole pieces as-is. I had to get a drill bit out and bore the hole a little bigger for it to fit and still look close enough. Probably the biggest issue was that the pole pieces seemed slightly off parallel to each other. In general, they should fit, but as always, YMMV.

The only problem I've had with a SSL-5 is the cover I was using ( of Unknown origin? ) The pole's lined up perfect, But the area where the wire comes up out of the bobbin created a gap that prevented the poles from coming fully though. I just dremeled the ears of the cover down a bit... And all was well.
