Are these studio monitors any good?

I need a pair of active speakers.

Are these Fostex on sale any good?

Purposes will be:

• When I have guitar guest I need to play my tonelab or palmer speaker simulator through fullrange speakers (no additional guitar cab)
• My wife needs something to make party music in her small shop every now and then
• Oh yeah when I recording things I like to use more than headphone sometimes.

I don't want to go harsh PA speakers and I would like to avoid dragging subwoofers around. A pair of plain soft-mounted active speakers that do some boom boom for the party would be great.

Never mind. I guess alittle too near field to compete with a 4x12" cab
