What do you suppose Jeff Watson used for his sound on "You Can Still Rock In America"?

He has the killer LP tone on that song...great lead.

    nightranger?!

either way, sounds full without too much harshness or highs, and on that same token not too extended of a bass response. i bet you could get really close to that with a custom custom in a 'paul.

Ok, had me a good wail on my baretta this morning.. Played thru my jCM800. I will try to share impressions.. Its so hard describe. I wish I had stock 59b to compare back to back with, but dont, so have to rely on my poor memory.
The pickup is great.. It stillhas a fat bottom but is alittle tighter. The highs are still plentiful but tamed slightly from stock and they just sing in the upper registers. With a flat EQ, the stock scoop is much less noticable. An if you dial up the mids, it has a very cool tone. It still has a somewhat vintage feel under the fingers and response, but the sound is slightly modern.. Of course, harmonics and all are a breeze. Definately some ceramic edge to it, but NOT harsh at all. As I say about my beloved custom8, has the ceramic attitude with Alnico warmth.
I did whip out some Looks that Kill and the sound and vibe were there.. Good stuff maynerd..
Clean was as good as can be expected. does the blooze with passable grade.
I will most likely keep it in this guitar, which says alot as I love my Baretta and with just one pickup.... But it doesnt blow my mind the custom8 does.
Some folks are gonna love these, 59 purists wont.. You'll never know til you try and its definately worth trying.. Let me know how you like it.
