Default Need Advice on a Good Neck HB for Tele??

I'm getting ready to order a Ron Kirn Tele Style. I'm want to go with a Neck Humbucker that's clear and articulate. I've read reviews about HB's in the neck that were described as to dark which usually means it's to muddy. I'm looking this sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym93F7beTA4
What your hearing is a vintage LP humbucker in the neck.

It would be nice if the neck HB could be split, but only if it will create a good usable tone.

    What would you suggest?

Its hard to match a stingy Tele Bridge Single Coil Pickup with Humbucker in the neck. I tried it a long time and gave up at least (it has a humbucker sized P90 now). Best bet was Jazz neck.
Be sure to use a 500k Volume Pot for the humbucker and a 250 for the Bridge. Connect the the tone pot only to the Bridge and set the humbucker as low as you can.

I hd great results in my solid ash tele using a Demon in the neck. I had it set to be split normally, and when I pulled up on a push/pull pot, both coils would engage in series giving me a thick, loud tone with good clarity for solos. Split, it blends extremely well with a tele bridge pickup. BTW, I was using 250k pots and never came across any issues with the tone being too dark or muffled.

Did you use the George Lynch Screaming Demon or the Li'l Demon in the neck? The Demon only comes in a Bridge PU. Is that what you used?

    Thanks, Res

+1 , Although, I am using a 59n in my ash tele with 300k vol, 550k+ tone, and a aph-5n (2 500k) in my squier custom 2, and neither are muddy to my ears.
If anything the 59n in my ashcaster was too bright with 2 550k+ cts pots, so I changed the vol to 300k to tone it down a bit. Couldnt be happier.

The full sized Screamin Demon bridge pickup for me. Never tried the Lil version of it. Honestly, even at 10k, it makes for a fantastic neck pickup.

If you had a spare knob and a 4-conductor pu, I'd say wire up a PG neck or Jazz to spin-a-split and you could dial it in perfect.

I use the Demon (full size bridge humbucker) in the neck of anything that is too boomy.

Didn't like the SM-1, it sounds like a PAF potted to death.

I want a firebird pickup for trying.

Oh but it can be done !!!

. . . and with that toggle in the mid pos - what a tone !!!

Fender through the years made a few. The '72 Custom & the American series *HS Tele is two that comes to mind !
And even Squire had the Sandard Fat Tele (H/SC config)

    *comes w the S-1 switch

PS : here is a custom made jobby, but it sounds fantastic ! Really does !

Stoner Rock and Stoner Metal are interchangeable terms describing sub-genres of rock and metal music. Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo, low-tuned and bass-heavy. It incorporates elements of Psychedelic Rock, Blues-Rock and Doom Metal into a more repetitive and riff-centred style. Melodic vocals and 'retro' production are also common traits.

Spin-a-split is a great idea. I didn't know it then. I could have dialed in the right amount of in- beween series and SC.
