9's for me. I constantly bend strings as I play, from micro to extreme, and love to do that wild Peter Green/Danny Kirwan vibrato regularly. I just can't get the control I need with 10's. If I played solos in a different style, I'd use 10's for the fuller tone they have.

Like blueman here, I do a lot of bending and such. My style calls for 9-42. I string up my single-coil loaded Strats with 10's but my humbucker guitars get 9's. They're just plain more comfortable over 3 one hour sets.

Blue Steel 9-46's for the most part, usually a half step down.

    9 1/2, 11 1/2, 16, 25, 33, 43. GHS Santana signature big cores. Got 'em on sale for $1.49. They suck on a 24.75 inch scale. I use 'em in standard(A440) and drop d.

+1. If you're playing a lot of solos & compliacted chords til 1:00 in the morning, finger fatigue is a factor. If we were pros & played for a living, we'd probably build up more finger strength, but since we have day jobs & can't play 8 hours a day, lighter strings make a lot of sense. Why struggle with your strings & let them impact your style? I adjust my PU's/magnets/amps to compensate for the tones that 9's have. Std tuning BTW.

I've been using 11-50 for several years. Mostly DR, sometimes GHS. It's a comfortable gauge for me, but when I play a guitar with 10's or 9's I find myself over-bending or gripping chords to hard and having to be careful not to break someone else's strings.

Standard 10s. I was using 11s for years, but a combination of style change, and playing a bit less lead me back to 10s.

I see a few people use 10 - 50s, or 52s? What do you like about the thicker lower strings?

Up until recently, I've been using D'Addario 11-48 on every guitar except my Tele, which is 10-46. I tried 10-52 on the new Strat, and I'm really digging it. I'm going to switch everything to 10-52.

generally .011 to .046 on 25.5 scales, .012 to .048 on 24.5, mostly nickel...on archtops, I use up to .014 to .054, Thomastiks when I can get 'em. I used to use .013 to .050 on nearly everything for a long time, gigging 25 nights a month.

    10.5's - 48 and I change the G from an 18 to 16. I use the 18 on my acoustics to change the wound 23 G to an 18.

Anyone want some .23 Brass wound Acoustic singles?

Cuhraazzy Eights! Super bright stainless steel strings at that! I know how much guys just love those. Mmm-mm. Just slap 'em on an import with a bolt-on maple neck, a floating bridge, mix with high output ceramic pickups, and send all o' that info into a solid state amplifier -- and then you have got yourself the perfect nightmare! Or so most guitarists assume.

11-50 usually, except my strat, which is 12-52 in an open D or D6 tuning.
