Plz help with my Gibson case!

Hey guys,

I have one of those Gibson Les Paul cases made by TKL - the kind with the 3 number combination lock.

I was programming a new combo following the instructions provided, but when testing the new combo, it didn't work. The original factory combo 0-0-0 doesn't work either. Now nothing works.

Is there another way to re-program the lock or start all over?

I was able to pop the lock open without doing damage to the lock. The case is open and unlcoked at the moment.

twist numbers ?
Its only 999 numbers right ? thats about 10 minutes max to break. more like 5. just try em all

It comes out to being 729 different combos that are possible. If it were me, I'd just bust the lock and leave it there for looks.

Those locks don't do anything more then keep people from stealing picks anyway... If someone wants the guitar they're gonna grab the guitar. Takes about a minute to bust one of those combo locks open.

I don't even set those combos. The little red tabs are still on all of my Gibson cases. Like Moose said, if somebody wants the guitar, they're going to grab the whole case and split.

I had to bust the lock on my es-135 case for this very reason. went through every possible number combination twice and still couldn't get it open so I just broke it off. That's why I'm not gonna set the lock on my les paul case, not worth the time or trouble

Don't bust the lock.

Just take something very thin, sturdy enough ,and with a pointed edge.
Stick it in by the left side of the first tumbler.
Feel up and down with the piece of what ever you're using.
It should feel rounded or have a notch.
Now, if you feel a notch, then you're at the correct number.
If you don't, rotate the number once, a try again.
Keep going till you feel the notch.
Once you have that notch, go on to the next tumbler and so on.
Once all three tumblers have the notch by them, you should be able to open the case.

I use a very thin piece of plastic.
I've heard others cut a piece out of a aluminum can and use that.
Just don't cut yourself.

Note: some cases may have the notch on the right side instead.
