SD distortion mayhem set

i know that the bridge is good for metal but i also want a neck pickup that i can get clean tones from. is it to hot for this or would it work out ok? ive heard missed results from ppl before and im not quite sure. let me know what you think guys! thanks ahead of time, Jeff

I had a Squire Jagmaster that was equipped with the Duncan Designed HB-103 set, based upon the Duncan Distortion set. I was able to get rather nice tones from the neck pickup. However, When I took a multimeter to the pickups, I got a DC resistance reading on the neck pickup of 7.7kOhms, closer to a Jazz neck than a Distortion neck, which reads 12.kOhms per the Tone Comparison Chart. I'm not sure how a pickup wound to 7.7k with a ceramic magnet will sound like a pickup wound to 12.7k with a ceramic magnet, but when I called the guys at Seymour Duncan, I was told that the HB-103 neck pickup should sound like an SH-6n.

I'd give it a shot. If you decide you don't like the clean tones from the SH-6n pickup, you can always take advantage of the return policy, and trade it in for another neck pickup you might enjoy, like a '59, Jazz, Anlico Pro 2, Pearly Gates, or the like.

I have a Distortion bridge and neck - only thing is they're in seperate guitars.
The SH6 bridge is in a strat copy, along with a couple of Fender USA single coils. I have a coil split for the Distortion and it sounds great in the notch position.

The SH6 neck is in a Jackson Kelly, along with a JB. Again I have coil split for both pickups and I can get fantastic clean tones, especially in the middle position.

So I'd suggest you add a coil split and you're laughing.
