    Default Strat wiring help needed!

    Hey,

Awhile ago the volume pot on my Squier strat crapped out, so I bought a new one to replace it from the local guitar shop. When I had it all wired up, I put on one string to see if it would work and it worked fine. But when I finished putting the guitar back together it cut in and out. And it only comes in when you wiggle the pot.

Does anyone know what to do in this situation?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Resolder it, you seem to have a cold solder joint and/or a loose solder joint. Also, you may have some extra lead wire hanging over shorting out against something. It's possible you got a bad pot, but doubtful ... recheck your work, neatness counts. Sounds like bad soundering/loose connections. You could also have a loose wire floating around, again making accidential contact where it shouldn't. Recheck.

ok I checked it out and sure enough there was a wire that was supposed to go from the volume pot to to switch that wasn't going thru one of those holes in the pot. I put it in real quick and the guitar is working fine now! Thanks for the reply Kent.
