They look absolutely fantastic... how's the tone on those?
P-90sh or something else...?
I'm all ears!

I haven't tried the SD, but the Gibson Alnico model is partly P90 with an added stringy sort of tone; clearer and punchier. It may be a little too detailed for some people...

If the pickup is vintage correct then it would be for both bridge and neck

I played a Les Paul Custom R4 recently, and I fell in love with the staple. Best woman tone I've ever heard.

It seems as if Gibson was trying to get something of the Charlie Christian tone in a slightly more elegant design and fit them in Customs, 400's, etc...
Although the Staple is thought of as a neck pickup, we've had these two in an H/H Larrivee in the sound room for awhile and the Staple makes for a really great bridge pickup, too. Granted, these are "Phats" that fit into Humbucker housings. I don't know if anyone's tried a full sized Staple in the bridge and can report their findings.
My review of the HB sized pickups isn't technically a review of the full sized, so I'll refrain from the comparisons, but suffice it to say if you haven't tried the Staple format, it's worth checking out. They are very hard to make. Each individual pole piece is adjustable, and has to be made almost like jewelry. It's attached to the pole piece so the screw remains stationary, but the pole piece can raise and lower. It's a trip to be able to raise and lower actual Alnico poles rather than just screw poles with a base magnet. The squared off pole is really interesting as well.
I have a recording (audio only) of Seymour doing a demo with these (the Phat Staples, not the full size) that we'll process and post in a week or two. It shows them in both positions. I really love the idea of these in the bridge position.

I'm thinking of a staple in the neck of a LP, and a '59B in the bridge. Wouldn't that be a nice pair?

I have a 50's Epi archtop waiting for one of these...

I had one in a guitar I had for a while. It lasted about 2 days before it was replaced by a regular P90. Just sounded kind of wimpy and ball-less to me. I suppose it's all a question of the tone you're looking for.
