Depends what you want---if you want the sound of a 1955 Epi archtop (stringy, percussive), stick to the .022/500K setup with a SC. It's never gonna be a Benny, so I have kinda avoided the HB option. However, there is a guy in NYC who used to play with Jack Wilkins who used a Century with a HB; it sounded pretty good. Just a personal preference thing...

I tore apart an OLD Silvertone shortwave radio last night and robbed it for the old caps. Am going to tape them to a sheet of cardboard and solder alligator clips to the tone pot to "audition" the various antique pots to see the different sounds.

I would like to put a Benedetto A-6 pup in my 1955 Epiphone Century electric archtop. The existing rout at the neck is 2-3/4" x 13/16". Will the A-6 be a direct fit here?

Before you do any electronics work..... why not consider contacting several repair places to see if you can find an original pickup? The pots & caps would not be a big deal, but the pickup would make it sound right.
