I am very interested in the CC, how does it handle the heavier tones?
is it real aggressive yet sweet at the same time?

Big, thick mids are the order of the day. It can get plenty mean with the right amp. If by sweet you mean no annoying "mosquito buzz" highs, then yeah, it'll cover that.
Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

I can do metal, blues and cleans and about anything else with no problem with mine. Just have a good amp and there you go. I think it is sweet and mean at the same time.

You really need to consider the guitars owned by the people who are responding.
Anything with a stainless steel bridge is going to handle the "mellowness" of that pickup better than a vintage trem, or something with a chrome-plated bridge. A stainless steel bridge is inherently "brighter" than one that isn't comprised of the same metal, whether or NOT it's blocked, or a floating or locking tremolo.
Not to mention the amplifier.....
I agree, i use a floyd loaded guitar and thought maybe the CC would be a nice toned pup for the thinness, brightness of the ibanez RG's.Originally Posted by Majestic
I was told the C5 would be good also?

really? bloodrose has one in his ibanez RG and says it is very balanced?Originally Posted by ranalli

If it's any consolation, C.J. Piece of Drowning Pool uses a CC supposedly. So there you go.
• Ibanez ART600TK (Custom8/Air Norton)
• Schecter C-1 Classic (JB+Custom Hybrid/Jazz)
• MIM Fender Strat (Stock)
• Vox V847 / Crybaby From Hell (Fasel)
• VisualSound Route66 --> Boss BF-2 --> CH-1 --> Fulltone FatBoost 3 --> Line6 DL4
• Mesa/Boogie Mark IV-B short head (JJ 6L6)
• Ear Candy BuzzBomb 2x12 (V30/Hoosier Cat)
• Vox Valvetronix AD30VT
R.I.P. DIMEBAG DARRELL 1966-2004

Well maybe his guitar as a ton of mids naturally in it's sound but like I said in the other thread it sounded way scooped in my Les Paul. And the one thing I did like about it was the bottom end but it just had no balls in the middle.

Ditto! Sounded the same way in my alder Floyd guitars.Originally Posted by ranalli

Here are a couple of CC Les Paul clips recorded with a Marshall JCM800:

CC Clean and Dirt

Stevo, that was a great job showing what the CC can do!!!!Originally Posted by Stevo

You want a beefy round bass, thick and rich mids, smooth, rounded off highs and balls!? Rio Grande BBQ.
I was gonna get one but i heard it has those upper mids of the JB which i hateOriginally Posted by papersoul
the JB is a great pup for the most part but i do not like that upper middy tone it has? it has a nice output, great harmonics and sings real good but those darn upper mids ruin it for me![]()

Then you gotta stay away from BBQ.Originally Posted by RG 2570

CC and floyd equipped super strats are a match made in heaven! It helps to wash away that metallic uppermid heavy tone due to the floyd.
Yes it can handle biting stuff very well especially on the bridge of such guitars. For some clips, in addition to stevo's, check my crappy playing done with a japanese ibanez S470:

Wow this thread is interesting.
I always overlooked the CC because I figuered an A2 magnet deosn't have balls. But after hearing stevo's clips I must say it can have a very fat and rough sound while remaining smooth and sweet!
How is the palm muting under gain with a CC? I mean is it a tight pickup?
