i have a few questions though before i start doing all of this.
i am installing new pots, 250k like it says.

how do i connect the wires to the prongs on the pots?
    solder?

and i have a three prong output jack,

where would the sleeve and the tip be?

Solder is best for wire-to-metal connections.

The jack is kinda tricky. Your best bet is to wire only 2 wires to it - a hot and ground. Insert the jack AFTER you solder the wires and insert a cable fully (TRS or TS). If you get sound, you've found both the ground and the tip. If you get sound at only halfway in but not full in, you found the ground and sleeve. If you get no sound, you're grounding to either the tip or sleeve. In that case, move the ground wire to the 3rd prong and repeat.
