    Default Help......

Im pondering if I want to change the dirty fingers out of my Gibbo LP Classic? Dont get my wrong, I LOVE the dirty fingers. Through my modded PV valveking I can nail Sykes's Whitesnake tone from '87. But the problem is that since the DF is so hot (17k with 3 ceramic magnets), there in no middle ground for it.........it's great for higher gain stuff.......Ex: Whitesnake, Skid Row (80's stuff). But it lacks that middle ground for AC/DC, Zeppelin, Van Halen (lower gain) type stuff. Im currently thinking about either the Suhr "Doug Aldrich" pickup set or a CC.

I need something that can cover EVERYTHING from 70's rock tones (zeppelin) all the way to 80's big hair tones (Whitesnake), but still also have a nice clean tone. I like hotter pickups with a little edge in the bridge and lower in the neck. I also prefer Alnico to ceramic......but no I am not against ceramic at all. I really like Doug Aldrich's tone he gets from his LP's loaded with his new Suhr pickups. But Doug Also used to play CC's in his LP's back when he started with whitesnake. The only thing is that I've heard ppl dont like CC's in LP's.

Sorry this is so long, but I couldnt make it any shorter.
    thanks,
    Chris

i'm guessing most people who don't like CCs in LPs don't like it because it doesn't have enought top end bite. imo if you want something along those lines but more versatile, go for a C3. it's basically a tighter CC with more bite to it, making it more easily transitioned between classic and heavy.
