ok this is good news then, cause i really had thought that all alinco 8 magnets were gonna suffer high end cause of what i experienced with the alternative-8 sh-15.
cause i really did LOVE the low end on that pickup, just didnt like the sustain of the highs, it fell twice as fast as my stock no name pickups.

what would you guys say about a alinco 8 mag in my JB??
    ive heard its great.

    cool cool cool!

I have messed around with A8s quite a bit, and to my ears, they are very strong A4s with a little A2 mixed in there. I used to thik they were the ceramic of the alnico world, but lately I'm not so sure about that. They do have less highs than A5 and ceramic. To my ears anyway.

yeah its great for low end but i could never dial in shinny lead tones, it just always seemed so bassy and the sustain always seems bothered by it. i know my ears.
Yeah I agree the "Alt 8" does suffer on the high end in my opinion, but a Custom 8 doesn't. The high end isn't lacking due to the A8 magnet on the Alt 8, it's the high winding that reduces highs in that case.
