I've tested a number of SD pickups several times and I remember there where pieces with old and new style stickers for at least 59 and JB, and obviously old and new patina in there. Have never been able to record a difference.

It's ridiculous. How much are they going to charge for this? A copy of a guitar which was, presumably, MUCH cheaper?
It's insane. Some people will buy anything. My Epi LP with A2Pro bridge would, I'm certain, sound just as good in Slash's hands as any of his 2-3 grand Gibsons.
Stoner Rock and Stoner Metal are interchangeable terms describing sub-genres of rock and metal music. Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo, low-tuned and bass-heavy. It incorporates elements of Psychedelic Rock, Blues-Rock and Doom Metal into a more repetitive and riff-centred style. Melodic vocals and 'retro' production are also common traits.
Gibson SG Special w. SD A2P's ->pedal board ->Bassman
It isn't a copy, it's a high end replica, made by a luthier, arguably more legit than any Gibson made post '60...
They cost more than Gibsons and they sound better...
It really isn't laughable at all...
Wonder what colour this clone of a clone sig LP will be ?

Replica and copy are the same thing...it's a guitar that was NOT built by Gibson yet it says Gibson on it...that makes it a fake, a copy, a clone...it's all the same.
Im betting you have no idea how much a Derrig costs but just so you know they cost more than some Gibsons and less than others...and cost has NOTHING to do with the sound.

Seriously, is that true? I don't get it then.
If Slash could afford such an expensive replica, and pass it off as a Gibson.....why didn't he just play a Gibson?
I've not read his book so I genuinely don't know, just seems odd to spend money on a fake, only to pretend it's a real Gibson.
And if Gibson are copying these high end instruments, isn't THAT illegal?
This is all rather bizarre.

That's a great point. Considered starting a thread titled, "How do California's Environmental Laws affect the manufacture of Duncan Pickups" a few times but did not want the question to be construed as an incentive for a politcal slap fight. It's just a legitemate question considering how the laws have been changed over the past 25+ years. For example, someone had a post once on how making formovar (sp?) has had to change over the years due to legal restrictions on such and such ingredient.

You'll use it, boy, and as long as you hate using it, you will use it more wisely than most men would. Wait. If ever you don't hate it any longer, then will be the time to throw it as far as you can and run the other way.”

From the way Slash phrased it, it sounds like he's asking for an "aged" (maybe degaussed) pickup, rather than one that was built differently than they are now.
That is pretty funny if you think about it...imagine the marketing verbiage
"The masters at the Gibson Custom shop have faithfully copied with painstaking accuracy, every detail of this...faithful copy...."![]()
I checked out Slash's Twitter page too...wonder how "subtle" the differences are...![]()

Hard Rock - gain on 5 - singing about good times.
Heavy Metal - gain on 10 - screaming about something.

only gibson would make a copy of a guitar that is already a copy of one of their other guitars. and it'll retail here for about 11K.
gibson just made the list.

This could possibly explain the "MJ Placebo effect" since there were apparently changes over the years??

I love that guitar. When I think "Slash", I think that guitar.
