    Default Custom8 at wymore

Just a random observation, wymore guitars is now selling custom 8 pickups. Still not a production model, but they are getting them shop floor custom and stocking them.

Might this become a production peice and if so, what would Duncan ever call it? Would the name make sense and be appropriate for the pickups tone? Would it be the "Custom Custom Custom Custom"??? LOL!

it's a custom custom, duncan custom, and custom 5 with alnico 8, rather than alnico 2, ceramic, or alnico 5, respectively. they're all part of the "custom family" wind, wound at ~14.4k~ with 43awg wire.

they're talking about the custom wind with an alnico8 magnet rather than a2, a5, or ceramic.

ok one more question and thanks for answering me before.

so does this mean that the custom series are really just the same pickup but the magnet type dictates the tone chart of B/M/T.
im looking at it and just wondering if the different custom series has different tones or the magnet is responsible for that. thats why people are saying they should just make a C8 pickup for sale as new pickup?

Every custom uses the EXACT same coils. The ONLY difference is the magnet. Duncan uses this method for a number of different pickups or familys of pickups.

The Custom should be sold as a kit with different mags. 1 Ceramic, 1 A2, 1 A5 and 1 A8 magnets. All for less than $99. The name says it all.......Duncan Custom. The be all end all of pickup's.
I'll have a Gibson Flying V straight into a Mesa, hold the BS please!!!!!
