    Default Internet Warning!

Just a heads up to PC users, yesterday I worked on a clients machine and they had a piece of malware on their machines that redirected web pages to a warning page for something called "Complete Security Suite". The warning page looks like the warning page you get with Firefox. The page redirects you to Complete Securities website where they offer a bogus anti-virus package for sale. It was fairly easy to remove. This malware was kind of stupid and clever at the same time. If you typed in an address from the address bar you wouldn't get the redirect page (stupid), however if you navigated to a page from Google every third website you would get the redirect (half clever). Don't be fooled the program offered is bogus as is the warning. It can be removed easily by Spybot S&D.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I might switch to a mac when I get a new computer.

It's worth the extra money. Not a free pass to surf without protection (duh) but my iMac G5 still runs just as well as the day I bought it nearly 5 years ago.

I have never used a PC that didn't show significant performance problems more than 1 year down the road.

I get that sort of page every now and then, mostly when using Stickam.com, whose chat feature is irc based.

If only they would classify these hacks as terrorist activity punishable by being burned to death or buried alive.

Spybot S&D is one of the few freeware protection programs that isn't spyware itself.

They update definitions weekly, and they respond to threats well.
