    Default Good headphones??

    Hi all,
I've been looking around for some good headphones to plug into my Marshall & Randall amplifiers for silent practice. I really have no idea about what would do best and offer good sound quality when it comes to this, so any information based on experience would be helpfull. However, I'm not looking to spend too much either. Any ideas?

My favorite brands are Beyer-Dynamic and Audio-Technica. How much are you looking to spend exactly? If it's under a $100, I'd go for the Sennheiser HD-280s or Sony MDR-V6.

Without speaker simlulation, those amps are going to sound like ass through the headphone jack no matter which headphones you use.

I really like the Sennheiser HD-280.

My favorite is the Sony MDR-7506, but that goes for around $100. How much did you want to spend?

I like both the Sony MDR7506 and the Senn HD270 for sealed cans. The senns if you like midrange, the Sonys if you prefer a slight "smile curve".

If you don't need isolation, Sennheiser, Grado, Beyer, and AKG make many good modelsto check out.

Sony MDR 7506 is the industry standard, and is closed ear. $100. Just get 'em!

the Sennheiser's sound good, but not great. I normally run my Tonelab through a pair of monitors. When I use the Sennheisers, the tone sounds harsh. It's not the monitors, as CD's I've burned (or now, mp3's I've tranferred to my iPOD) of me playing sound good in my BMW (and at home in front of my monitors), but harsh through the Sennheiser 280s.

Still, they're a lot better than el-cheapo headphones.

The Sony V6 and 7506 use the same drivers, so they're virtually the same cans (the plug tip isn't gold plated on the V6, though ). You can save a few bucks by going with the MDR-V6.
