Could this be a fake?

Hi guys,

I'm new around here and just started playing guitar a few months ago, I was browsing through my local kijiji, because nobody uses craigslist in this town, and I came across a really cheap gibson les paul special. I don't know much about gibsons, I mostly researched fenders up till this point having bought one a couple months ago, the serial number seems valid, but I can't find a pic of a les paul special around to compare with this one. It also could be a junior special for all I know. I'd really appreciate any thoughts you guys have on this.

if it's a cheap LP Special (or so they say), try and find the buyer and examine it in person. You may just love it, you may not. Being that it's questionable in your mind, find the guy and make sure it's worth it.

Email the serial number to Gibson, and see if they tell you it is a LP special.

Thanks for the advice, I'll shoot Gibson off an email, judging from the guitar dater project this seems to be legit. Does anyone have a pic of one of these they can send me or link me too?

I think you're a little too worried about this guitar, mate. It's a gibson.

that thing looks like the real thing to me. in fact, it looks just like my SG as far as the color and neck/headstock/serial # location. i think you're good to go
