I wonder if a maple cap over limba would have the same effect as over mahogany (not that you'd wanna hide the limba!).

Got a good friend on the Dean board who bought a really tasty Korina Soltero with maple cap.

Aint no pro but I know what I like....
Guitar to sound output:
Hamer, Dean, or Various, Levy's straps, Dunlop straplock/picks, Daddarrio strings 10-46, Duncan, Dimarzio, Mogami, Monster, MojoDrive pedal on occasion, Marshall, Crate, Vox, Mesa Boogie, Black Shadow Celestions, Eminence,..

Depends how thick the top is. If it's really thin like on a strat body there's not a change of sound. From Warmoth site: "When using only an eighth-inch top, all of the tonal properties of the body will be derived from the base wood, not the top. Therefore, you may have an Alder body that sounds like an Alder body, but appears like a beautiful piece of Quilt Maple."
If it is a ¾” thick top like on a Les Paul body there is a difference in sound.
I believe even a little screw affects the sound but the question is if the human ear can hear any difference?
