I wasn't sure at first. The leaks and "official" tracks I've heard on the internet weren't exactly inspiring to me. The mixes sucked. They almost sounded like demos. Some of the the riffs weren't great or inspiring to my ears. I've had this for two days now and it's infectious. I think for what the riffs are they all fit and serve their purpose. I don't think it measures up with the holy trinity of Slayer albums but I think they could possibly have a second holy trinity if they can come out with one more along the lines of this and Christ Illusion.
There are some very catchy beats and that old school swing they used to get through riffs as opposed to rhythmic chugging. Some old school style Slayer riffs like Cleanse The Soul and Read Between The Lies (two of my favorite Slayer tunes).
I highly recommend this album (shocker that I'd recommend a Slayer album). I'm not the biggest fan of the Bostaph years and think Dave Lombardo does a much better job than he ever did. Perhaps thats the major difference. Any way you cut it I think this new Slayer album is pretty **** good. Thoroughly enjoying it.
The only negative I can find is the production. You can definitely tell it's been recorded at different times as the guitars just sound more alive on some tracks. Sometimes they sound farty like someone forgot to turn the gain or the master volume up in the studio. Still not terrible and easily overlooked.

Sound Of White Noise was great, didn't really care for Vol 8 or WCFYA, aside from one or two songs each.
