Humbucker mounting ring?

Maybe I'm being to analytical, however I currently have a guitar that has a tapered humbucker mounting system, the live wires I'm installing are not tapered, which I'm going to file down and make work... The guitar does not have mounting rings but the live wires do, will the live wires be stable enough to mount without having the mounting rings seymour duncan provided? Thanks


BTW The guitar currently has no springs for height adjustment, they seem to be mounted to a metal bracket, this guitar has a stop bar and string thru design, will the spring adjust work without any repercussion? Thanks, any advice would be helpful guys.

I needed about 10 minutes just to try and figure out what the sam hill you were talking about .... I´m still not sure I´m thinking of the same thing, but here goes...

The question appears to be: Can I direct mount the livewires or do I need to use the ring? The ring does not need to be there, you can mount the Livewires directly to the wood just as the originals were.

If there are no springs, it´s very likely that the pickups are sitting on a chunk of foam rubber which accomplishes the same effect

My guitar and the stock picks ups





My live wires, you can see the difference by the way the pick ups mount, I know I can correct the mount by shaping the live wires to the shape of the stock Yamaha's without harming the pick ups. But the stock pick ups seem to be placed or mounted to something in order to make the pick ups higher, should I place something underneath them to make them higher if I can't get the stock bracket to work with the live wire?

Thanks, just making sure I'm not going to screw things up, I care deeply about my drop 6's and would never forgive myself for doing something irreversible to the guitar...
