well, i haven't had a chance yet to play them on my amp (bogner xtc classic) but i've tried it out a little on a mesa stiletto at the store i work at. so i will post more of a reivew when i get back from playing my amp.

the specs on mine were 20 gauss wire, neck 7.5, bridge 8.55 so they are a little hotter that stock aph1's, tall legs instead of the shorter sd legs, single conductor, scatter wound, aged parts.

i believe they go for $300 a set but i'm a dealer so i got them for a little less tho'.

    Sounds awesome!

Off subject... but what's your take on the Mesa Stiletto bognerboy? Not many have played them. Good, bad, great?

i really am not sure what 20 guass means, i assume maybe it's the thickness of the wire that's wrapped around the bobbin.

    semper,

we just got the stiletto in 2 days ago. it's going to be really hard to comment on the amp because i believe there is something wrong with ours. our stiletto has too much top end, you can not get the treble or the presence past 10 o'clock because it's too thin sounding. it sounds real small and i described this to my rep and him along with some other mesa employees included the vp seem to think that there may be something wrong with it.

the amp is definitely non-boogie sounding. many thought this would just be a revoiced recto but it's not in the same park at all. quite a bit less gain, tighter bottom.

i've got to call my rep tomorrow and they're gonna take care of the amp for us.

just got back from playing my lp with the cs slash pickups through my classic. wow, i absolutely love it. i liked the tone of the aph1's already but these just take that tone and make it more authentic/vintage sounding. there is quite a bit more harmonic content and top end, and it seems to have a little bit tighter bottom and a touch more mids. i really like the output of these because they're a little bit hotter than stock aph1's. i think it really nails a classic paf tone. the biggest improvement for me was the neck pickup. with the tighter bottom and a more open top end, the neck pickup just sang. the pickups still have that aph1 warmness to it but they just cut better. they are extremely rich sounding and complex sounding. thanks alot mj.

I did not well understand: your PUs are the exact replica of the Slash's one? Or they are A2P with your own specs?
Or the same question: Slash use stock A2P or your PUs?

Slash uses custom A2p's. Scatter wound , Antiquity hardware etc.

from what info i got from the cs is slash came to them and he wanted a aph1 but wanted to make it better. when slash gets a set of aph1's the custom shop ones are the ones he gets.

How they compare to boutique PAF replica? (WCR, and so on...)

adrian is using dimarzio PAF's in his strats since the reunion in 98-ish, i doubt he has em in ALL of his guitars, cos some tunes he's playing sound awfully close to my JB ( i know i can nail his tones from BNW spot on, without much amp tweaking)

if he's using them, they might be the older run (like the one stevo is 'auctioning' off at the off topic forum. i doubt it's a custom wind, but i could be wrong. you'd have to ask Evan
