    Default Jeremy: '59 question

    Jeremy,

I noticed that on the SD website, the '59 is described as being "particularly good for Mahogany bodies and Rosewood fingerboards." OK, fine. I noticed that there' s no mention of the '59's compatibility with semi-hollow guitars, like my ES-335..may I respectfully ask why the omission?
FYI, my ES-335 sounds great with it's '59 set. My apologies for sounding like a whiney nitpicker.

couldnt tell ya. i think they sound fantastic in 335 style guitars.
the mahogany/rw comments are geared towards a les paul and the 59 is great in that, but its great in almost every gibson style guitar ive tried and just about everything else too

Following the advice from some members of this group, I've armed my #1 Guitar (early '80s MIJ Terada factory made Emperador 335 copy) with a SD Jazz bridge in the neck position. It sounded great!

After a couple of years, just for s*h*i*t and giggles I've tried a '59 bridge on the neck position and I liked it even more.

Now, after I've learned the art of magnet swapping and tone matching I've finally found the perfect neck p'up: it's called a stock '59N (wound by Maricela Juarez in 1990).

It complements GREATLY the Custom 8 at the bridge.

    HTH,

+1 to both. Great in 335's and mahogany in general. Very flexible PU.

Comes factory in Hamers and other guitars as well.. That has to tell you something!
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.
