Default Pickups for a swamp ash guitar

I have a Cort G260 swamp ash Strat like guitar with HSS configuration.
It has Mighty Mite pickups installed and I would like to replace them with SDs.

My problem is the guitar is very bright and I would like to make it a little bit warmer/fatter (especially on the humbucker). Which pickup configuration should I use? I would consider Custom Custom for bridge and SSL-5 for neck and middle. Would it be OK?

I play mostly classic rock and blues (metal just from time to time).

That should be a warmer setup, but those ssl-5 are gonna be HOT for the neck and mid positions, in relation to the custom custom. You are probably going to have to raise the hb high, and lower the singles a good amount, to even it out. A better setup (imo, of course) would be a pair of aps-1 (alnico 2 pro strat), if you want a bluesy tone that is not real hot.

Maybe something with an A2 magnet like the Pearly Gates for the humbucker and APS1 for the neck and middle.

    +1 on APS-1 or APS-2.

Ive had SSL1s in the neck and bridge of a swamp ash guitar before and thought they were heaven on earth. I think something you need to find out before you decide which way to go is whether you prefer A2 or A5 magnets in a strat. They have distinct characteristics so if you know you prefer one over the other then id stick with that. Im a big fan of A5 singles in neck and middle and A2 bucker for the bridge in a HSS set up.

Personally, i would go for SSL1 neck and middle and PG in the bridge. Again though, this is what i like.
