I just went out to try some Taylors again... Help me a little if you can...

So, I'm going to buy a high-end acoustic soon. I must have tried every taylor on the wall and this baby was the one who spoke to me:


Grand Auditorium, spruce top, ovankol back and sides. Really really sweet sounding, the ovankol balances the tone so nicely it's not even funny... I just kept coming back at it between every guitar, I just kept drooling and smiling like an idiot... I'll have to order one since I don't want the cutaway version nor the expression system and I'm wondering if I should get the Jumbo version... I always liked the tone of jumbos but they didn't have any in stock so I couldn't try one... Any idea what kind of change in tone I should expect between a grand auditorium and a jumbo?

GA: W-16'' X D-4 5/8'' X L-20''

Jumbo's will be more of a strumming guitar. You have to hit them hard to get them to sound good. They also have a tendency to loose a little in the treble due to the size. If you do decide on a Jumbo, go with Mahogony back and sides. It will balance the tone a lot better. I would also recommend you NOT order one. PLay the guitar that you walk out with. I played a Taylor 615, but I wanted one with a cutaway, so I ordered the same guitar with a cutaway. When I recieved it I was not happy with it. I made the mistake of taking it home anf trying to get it to work. I finally gave up and traded my Taylor for a Santa Cruz and am absolutely thrilled that I did so. Taylors are very nice guitars, but as all guitar Companies that build high volume a few will slipp through that maybe should not have gone out. Keep searching, and playing until you find YOUR guitar!!
