Red face WHats the best PU for my new Gretsch G5122?

    Hello there!
Got a new hollowbody in the mail and I know I need PU's. Please help me decide on a tonefull SD set. I am partial to a (250$ set, yikes) of TV Jones Classics (Great low end and articulation) but I have not heard all of the Gretsch PU's or GFS, etc.

Is there a good split dually Humbucker possibly for this?

Will play chimey Beatles rythms and jazzy leads. Slightly distorted Rockabilly and Chuck Berry stuff as well. Surf Low end needed too. Duane Eddy!

    Thank you,
    Mike

    welcome!

for what you're playing, i'd suggest checking out other options; i have a set of tv classics and while the bridge is great, the neck doesn't really do anything other pickups can't tone-wise, and is pretty under-powered at 4K (i know "DC resistance isn't everything", but a 4K humbucker?). if i'd paid retail for the tv jones', i'd have been pretty a little disappointed.

personally if i were playing a lot of clean stuff on a hollowbody and only using a little distortion on occasion, i'd be more inclined to look for a humbucker-sized single-coil for the bridge ie phat cat or harmonic design Z90; p-rails could be a good option too

beware the bridge Z90 though, it's really hot
