I like the song. Thanks Jolly.![]()

Now here is what's amazing about this.
Jimi died in September of 1970. It is now January of 2010 & it is JUST getting released and it is STILL better then everything else on the radio. That is almost 40 years of this material sitting on a shelf somewhere & we now have to wait until March 9 to get it.
Tanks for posting this Jolly. Now I have to sit on pins & needles until March 9!
It would really be interesting to see how he would have done it. It was obviously not released back in the day because he felt it was either not good enough or it needed some additional work. Still I can't wait! How many other people could create this kind of anticipation 40 years later!

It's cool to hear it. Thanks for the link.

Awesome.
Loved it!

yeah, i havent heard anything "new" that i was that happy with in a long time.
much thanks to jolly for posting that.

That's pretty fab. Hendrix's rhythm playing is very cool and the percussive clarity of a Strat complements it enritely - you can hear just about everything, like unintentional fills within fills of things like pick clacking against the strings, finger squeaks, the timing of it all etc.
The kind of tone he gets on this and tracks like 'Castles Made Of Sand' are is my favourite of his. Fairly clean with good power and a bit of hair when strings are hit harder.
thatz nice Jolly

sigh, i dunno.
it sounds like a draft or scratchpad version of a song. as a guitar geek, i would probably be glad to just sit around and listen to him play an E chord, but i dont have high hopes for this "album".
i'm not famous, but i've been in bands during creative processes. at first listen this sounds like "ok guys, here is the basic groove, just play along, i'll mumble something". the vocals sound reserved and guitar sounds dry. not dry as in tone. as stated above i would be happy to hear hendrix tune his guitar, but dry as in marking guitar parts to be overdubbed later or something. the drums definitely sound "followish". the ending also sounds like it would transition to something else, like a feedback or echo interlude or something, instead it just dies?
if i do get this album, i'm afraid i'll be listening clinically, not artistically. there is no way hendrix's legacy will be tarnished, but are we gonna have a new hendrix album in 10 years? i cringe.
=)
Teh ninja monkey likes this.

The song link on that page didn't work for me but I found it on Youtube.
I like it but I certainly wouldn't say it's better than anything else on the radio. It sounds very transitional. Firmly rooted in traditional blues stuff similar to many songs on the recent Jimi Blues album. But simplified enough in a sort of typical Jimi way to appeal to the 1968 masses. If Jimi had lived to see it released, I'd wager he would have released it as a B-side. Not bad, but not his best effort.

Good lord, LOVE IT!!!

I like it - it gets better with repeated listenings. Does feel incomplete though - but an incomplete Hendrix song is still pretty damn good. His best? No. Enjoyable to listen to? Yes.
