Default Happy Birthday Jake E. Lee

Where in the hell are you dude? You're one of my favorite guitar players of all time. I miss you.

I was fortunate to have see him play live four times. Twice with Ozzy (Bark at the Moon and Ultimate Sin tours), once with Badlands (Badlands tour), and had the privelage of opening up for him and talking with him when he was in WWIII with Mandy Lion.

Ozz should have brought Jake back to replace Zakk.

    Let me summarize/clarify:

#1 Ozz should hang it up
#2 Zakk probably went to long regardless - I like Zakk
#3 If I can't have Zakk, I don't think we got enough of Jake, I'd like to see him back
#4 All things being equal - I like Randy better than any of them

I know little / nothing about Gus, but I go back to point #1...

    Let me clarify mine

See #1 and #2 on why Jake shouldnt come back.
    I love Ozzy
I like a lot of Jakes stuff
Guitarist have a limited shelf life with Ozzy, and I think Jakes was done, didnt he say something to the effect of "being with ozzy is like using the talent in the toenail of my left pinky toe and nothing else I have"

    This is true.

It is the tour that needs to happen, imo.

    Happy Birthday Jake.

Last I heard he was a meth-head in a rundown hotel in Arizona.

Sucks, too. I liked Jake with Badlands, but felt the stuff he was doing with Ozzy/Sharon wasn't really letting him shine like it shoulda. Too many keyboards and not enough guitar.

Jakey Lou Williams rocks! Had stars in my eyes when I saw the Bark at the Moon tour in Duluth when I was 17.

It's neat how on Strats or Charvels you can tell the artist just by the body & pickguard colour.

Can you name the guitarist associated with these Strat colours?

Am I old school? I never heard of Jake E. Lee. Maybe it is because I do not listen to that type style of music.

    The Red/Black is Ritchie Sambora?

Lee's is easy to tell by the hardtail.

Don't feel bad, I listen to that type style of music, but just can't keep up with it all.

    Happy Birthday!!!!

sambora strat was horrendous pastel blue with lame stars all over the place, and star inlays too.

it was like the guitar equivalent of a stripper wearing glitter.

God, of all the axmen I idolize, Jakes probably the one that makes me pick up the guitar the most. I am so grateful for his influence on me cuz of his Bark era participation. Saw that tour twice, first w Shout/Devil era Crue... Best arena show I ever saw. They don't make sets like that anymore. Great setlist. I remember jake played some stuff w different fingers than what he used at the other show. I knew him from the album which aimed for the spookiness of Diary. His phaseshifted megabends were eerie, all his solos on this and ult sin were serious, lots to say, lots of ingredients, ... I wish I could just own it like he did. He's up there with angus, hendrix, pAge, evh, etc.when you talk about showmanship, ...actually he's the best. I may be exaggerating... No, I'm not. I can't picture the Jake on the Bark tour being blown off the stage. There are better players and riffwriters, but Jake is just magic. Like a gymnast or an acrobat. No whammybar yet lots of good dives. Frets w his thumb, stringskipping, and all his flashy stuff was very musical. RnR Rebel is my fave solo by him, also SlowDown , Jrny to Ctr... Geez they're allll good or great so much fresh stuff there, in fact in metal , as far as not overusing his own vocab , he was prob the top. I'm just in awe of the guy
