    whew...these last 2 or 3 pounds have been TOUGH...but i'm finally in the 270's...from 306 to 279!!!

i joined the fitness center at my work last week and i've been hitting the treadmill 4 days a week for 30 minutes on a "Hill" program...then upper body and lower body every other day!

    260's...HERE I COME!!!

www.myfitnesspal.com has been a HUGE help on keeping track of what i eat and take in!!!

i've never felt better about this type of thing before...i'm doing because i want to and on my terms and i'm actually enjoying it!

congrats man! i think i managed to keep up with myfitnesspal for about a week then i fell off, lol. I have continued to drop weight slowly, not really working out too much but i cut beer out of my diet and that seems to be doing the trick. I also quit smoking (again) so the no beer thing is really helping there too. I plan to actually get back into exercising next week.

    Awesome, Hoss!

You might want to throw in some HIIT routines to your regular treadmill work when you feel like it.

If you don't know what that is, here's a quick guide:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-in...erval_training

That will shed fat faster than regular cardio work.
I've seen it first hand. It is demolishing on the first attempts though.
    But it's worth it.

    Well done, man!

I'm crap at routine for fitness... it always seems to balance with my greed for beer and good food and I stay the same.

cool stuff...that's kind of what my treadmill routine does...starts out slow and even and then picks up speed and then picks up incline then maintains speed and goes down in incline degrees and back up and so forth and so on!

makes sense to do that with other routines as well!!! I LIKE IT!

I didn't have greed for beer...but i did for soft drinks! i've stopped drinking them altogether!

Food is kinda hard (i love fatty foods)...but i enjoy cooking and trying new things so much that all these healthy recipies are a challenge to me and i'm loving it!!!

Actually, the basis of the HIIT routines is to really unsettle your metabolism.
Instead of predictably staying at a hard pace, you constantly change it.

So you warm up for 5 minutes on the treadmill, then go balls to the wall, 101%, at the most deranged pace you can handle (don't bother with incline, here's it's pure speed) for 2 minutes, then walk at a moderate pace for 1 minute, then like a maniac for 2 minutes, and slow again for 1 minute. It might be easier to do in a stationary bike than in a treadmill.

Don't do it if you have a heart condition, or if you just don't feel comfortable with it. But if you can, it will really help burn the fat!

i'm planning on starting the elliptical machine every other day...alternating with the treadmill next week...that would be a good machine to do it on!!!

    thanks for the tips!

As soon as I start working out (one of these days) I'm going to try and do 15 minutes of HIIT in the morning, and 15 minutes of HIIT at night along with some other routines. I'll have 2 days where I won't train, which are days after soccer games. If I can stick to a diet I should be able to drop some pounds quickly. It's just a matter of starting and sticking to it.

Glad to hear you're having success with the plan. It's amazing how much easier it is to shed pounds when you ditch soda and deep fried foods.

I've said it before here, but if you don't own one, buy an Oster electric steamer for $30. You can cook nearly anything in it, and you get all the vitamins and no added fat. I've had mine since Christmas, and use it everyday. It's made cooking easier than making coffee!

cool man! personally, i've been doing the diet/excercise thing since about last november and am down from 210 lbs. to 190 lbs., which isn't a huge amount but i've also been doing some weights combined with a mile or two on the treadmill per workout. lately i've been going about twice a week, though at one point for a couple months i was going 5 nights a week.

i'm not so concerned with losing much more weight that quickly now though, as i figure if i workout once in a while and watch what i eat, it'll naturally go down. the main thing with my eating habits now are that i always make sure to eat some lean protein and some fruits/veggies/fiber for the bulk of my meals so i can still enjoy a little bit of junk here and there.

    Awesome, man!

HIIT is great, and it's even better when you've been steadily losing weight for a while and then you hit a wall.
The change of pace really helps!
    Congratulations, keep it up!

P.D: For full effect, you really have to go nuts in the fast intervals!

I get what you are saying...i soooooooooo want to be down in the 250's by my vacation in the summer!!!

When i'm on the treadmill and it really starts hurting and burning and my body says..."you can't do this"...it just MAKES ME FURIOUS and i drive that much HARDER!!!

I haven't felt like this in 15 years...SERIOUSLY!!! I used to have that mindset when i played basketball...i wanted to play against the best i wanted to guard the best players!!!

One practice my coach told me i needed to rebound more...the next game i grabbed EVERY defensive rebound in the first half!!! If we absolutely HAD to have a basket i would do whatever it took to get one and i would get it too!!!

Well...i WANT to get back down to my prime playing weight of 205...and i WILL get there too!!!!!!! It might take a LONG time...even a year or more...but i don't care...i've already set my mind to it!
