Default Pickup For Squier Tom Delonge

Ok so I just wanted some feedback here. I have in it a Dirty Fingers humbucking pickup, but i find it a little harsh. Ive been debating for the past month to put in a SH-55 Seth Lover for the Bridge and I just wanted to know how it would perform in that. I want a mixture between something old-school and something that could go heavy if I wanted it to. I am aware its not wax potted but can you use the pickup for metal too?

    Thanks,
    Austin

It can do metal thru the proper amp, but it's probably brighter than the DF. Me, I'd go with a PATB-3. It's got a lot of PAF feel and tone, but stays tight under gain and has a slightly rolled back high end to keep it musical. The only weak point of this pickup is the split sound, but if you only use it in full, it's fab.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

I'd go with a TB-5 Custom: it can get plenty heavy, but it has a good balanced clean tone to.

IMO, you should leave the Gibson DF exactly where it is and upgrade the Squier's volume pot and bridge saddles. GraphTech String Saver saddles worked wonders for my Squier Telecaster Custom II. (Make sure to order the "import" width version.) An American-made 500k pot would allow better control over amp overdrive saturation.
