    Default Wiring Help Needed

Help! I'm in over my head here.

I'm trying to put together a Strat type guitar with two Texas Hots and a
P Rails in the bridge. A Seymour tech told me I would need a mini-toggle (on-on-on) to get all three of the P Rails functions in combo with the Hots.
    So, I have 1 volume, 2 tones and 1 3-way mini-toggle.

I haven't found a diagram anywhere for anything like this. I would appreciate a diagram if anyone can provide one, but good instructions will likely suffice
(i'm a bit thick-headed at times, ya know).

Here's my contact info: Byron Merritt, bmerritt@yahoo.com, 334-272-8006 from 1p to 6p central or 334-424-0221 other times.

I'll be most grateful for any help - Poppa Byron

Interesting, since the P-Rails actually has 4 functions: Series (normal), Split to Rail, Split to P90, and Parallel.

But the 3-way mini will get you Series/Split to Rail/Parallel.

Anyhoo, just follow any regular diagram:

This one shows how to split using a push/pull, but the mini-toggle will be wired the same way as the push/pull:

This one shows how to get AutoSplit when on the 4 (Bridge + Middle):

If the Texas Hots are Fender pickups, reverse the Green and Black wires of the P-Rail.

Thumbs up Re: Wiring Help Needed

I guess I get to show how ignorant I really am -
Auto Split - I need you to explain that for me please, and without another switch, doesn't that limit the PRail's capabilities (i guess this is where the auto split comes in, huh?)
The Texas Hot are some of Seymour's Antiquity pups.
Thank you very kindly for your response and the diagrams.

well in the diagram below the switch does it by putting the hot legs on one side and the ground on the other
so that when in position 2 the hot side says "send power to that neck pickup"
and the ground side says "send that humbucker to ground before the second coil"

this results in only one coil being active on the neck

same for the bridge in position 4

Hi all - first post here. Been lurking a while. Anyway, I've got a rather unique application for the P-Rail. I have a strat with three Tele bridge pups on it. I did this mod a year or so ago and have really enjoyed the super-twang it provides. The controls are a volume and a blender, plus the 5-way, which is wired in standard fashion.

Lately I've found myself using mostly the bridge and middle pups while dialing in some of the neck pup only every now and then. So I decided to go a step further in my quest for tone. I am taking out the neck pup ind installing the P-Rail. I'll have two mini-toggles - one to split out the various functions of the P-Rail and one to put the two coils in either series or parallel when they are both selected by the other switch.

Should be interesting. If anybody's interested I'll post the results.

    Cheers!

Sounds good, let me know how that goes. If you want to avoid drilling your pickguard, consider these: http://www.seymourduncan.com/product...iple_shot_swi/

Thanks for the tip. Actually, the guard you see isn't the final one. It's just a piece of plexi that I scrounged in the shop. I've got the final one all made up and don't mind the holes. In fact I prefer to have the two switches right next to one another where I can get to them. Plus I like the way they'll look.

Ah cool, no worries. Should be a pretty cool axe when you're done!
