Default New 2010 Rush Time Machine Tour...

Did a quick search and didn't see anything on this, so don't smack me upside the head too hard if this is old news here.

Rush will be touring this summer. They're calling it the "Time Machine Tour". They plan to play the entire "Moving Pictures" album. This is something that many of us Rush fans have always wanted, and pretty much had come to believe would never happen. Guess they finally gave-in.

My summer concert attendance schedule was already full-up (because I'm traveling 500 miles each way to Denver already to see Iron Maiden/Dream Theater and Kamelot). But I guess I'll be making a third 500 mile drive for this show. It'd be one I'd never forgive myself for missing.

Rush doing 2112 would be awesome. Moving Pictures not so much.

To each his own. I've seen them do the entire 2112 suite. It was cool. But me and many others have been waiting for them to give their most-popular/most-defining album it's proper due for years. I know that 2112 was a big album for many Rush fans. But MP is very commonly though-of as their pinnacle in terms of songwriting, production, tightness, etc. Sure is by me. But I will admit that as a teenager in 1980 when it came out, that was a very impressionable time for me.

Don't get me wrong I'm not bagging on them as players or composers.
They're freakin brilliant, especially for a band that did push so far into the mainstream.
I just listen to music as a fan not as a player.
They have a huge 'wow' factor to their abilities but the songs as a whole just go right past me.
I do like 'Metropolis',but I usually fast forward through all the soloing.

I hear you. When "Images and Words" came out I was blown-away. DT was my favorite metal band for years during that time. But with each passing album, the fire died just a little. Until the point several albums ago (I think it was Scenes From a Memory) that the fire was dead. It all seemed like musical exercises to me (and this is coming from a guy who's biggest guitar influence during the 80's was Yngwie). For years, I've called it "free-form jazz metal". No soul there IMO.

But I'm still going to be there and hope that maybe they're doing something I'm interested in at the show. I haven't heard anything from their latest, but I guess I should check it out before the show.

Okay, we have to turn this back into a Rush thread right NOW because I am NOT posting in no Dream Theater thread!

I went to their site and it doesn't look like the specific dates have been posted. Hopefully they'll hit Vancouver, but I'd be willing to go to Seattle as well. All of Moving Pictures? I'm sold. For bonus points, they need to do side 1 of 2112 as an encore.

It's right on the very front/home page of their site.

Ok, they must have just put that up because I did not get that page when I went to rush.com.

Anyway, they are playing the Seattle area. Unfortunately they're not at The Gorge (awesome outdoor venue) but instead at the poorly-regarded White River Amphitheatre.

Might be a good excuse to take a trip down to San Francisco.

Yeah... I was wondering why they don't do The Gorge too. Always wanted to see a show there. I'm going to Red Rocks, but did consider just flying to Vegas and seeing them at the MGM.

I'm thinking that they finally had to confront the REALITY that they were going to have to give-in and give the fans what they've been wanting. The past several tours have been much of the same old, same old. Sure... they've pulled some cool, old ones out, but just one here and there. They've got an extensive catalog, but choose to play relatively few numbers from it.

First of all, the should just come out and play Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pics, and Signals. Start to finish - all of them. Done.

But - you know in 2012 they WILL be doing 2112!!!!!!!!!

I'm a huge Rush fan... of their early material. I just read in my local paper that they'll be playing a show here in my hometown this summer. I'm sorry, but knowing that they'll play the entire MP album means that I won't go. I consider the Permanent Waves album to be the start of the "new" Rush, and I prefer the "old" Rush. I'm sick of hearing Limelight and Tom Sawyer!

I'd love to see them play all of 2112, Caress Of Steel, A Farewell To Kings, or Hemispheres!
