    Default those bastards at Citibank...

So, I go online to check my statement on a card I never use, on a whim. I see a balance on there of $60... I think, "What the hell is exactly $60?" Turns out they do a membership fee thing if you do not use your card... I call, tell them to close the account and that I am NOT paying some crooked $60 fee I was never told about, and did not authorize. I don't care if I have to call every day, this ain't happening!

Thanks for the warning. I heard that some of the credit card companies were gonna start this stuff after the new laws went into effect a month or two ago. I have gotten notices in the mail from a couple of them about changes to the agreement (why is it they get to change it at their whim but I have no say except opting out and having my account canceled?) but nothing about fees for not using a card.

But I have a couple that I never use. One is a Discover. I've heard nothing from them.

Just had a card that was great for 20k dropped to $500. Totally paid, all on time, all good. No reason. Just hadn't been used

But doesn't it give you warm feeling deep inside to know that generous bonuses were given to the folks that really matter?

I love how the credit companies can't seem to get your payment into your account unless you send it 7 days before it's due.

7 days? Yeah, I can walk it there faster. They just want to whack you with the $30-$40.00 penalty. I can send a letter anywhere in the lower 48 and it will get there at most in 3 days.

The credit companies are playing around with adding so many various charges. Try to keep it paid down or at least within grasp of paying it off within a few months if the credit companies stick it to you.

Banks borrow money from the government at .5%. They turn around and by US Bonds at 3% and make a free 2.5%. How does that grab ya?

I made a whopping 5 cents on my ebay account at the credit union for 6 months. I would like to throw the nickle at them.

    hmm
last year had a perfectly good card with a Fixed rate of 8.9%
then, even tho I had never been late and was such a good customer
for the last 9 years, the decided that they were gonna change my rate to 13.9%

    called em
explained the definition of the term fixed rate
they agreed that I was a good customer but they had other customers who didnt pay

I tole em to cancel the account
then and only then did they offer to lower the rate to 9.9%
    not back to the original

    no more CC for me
    fk em

Banks in OZ stopped being banks and became "Money Managers" which justified all sorts of fees and charges added to the workings of your account.
Some investigative TV journalists went and opened accounts with the major banks around here. They deposited a couple of hundred dollars in the accounts they opened and then let them do nothing. After many months they went back to them to see what the balance was. Most were almost non existent and some were "owing money " to the bank for unpaid fees and charges.Their fees and charges outweigh any interest you may earn.

Charging you money for not using an account is a ludicrous fee. What have they done during that period ? Maybe spit out a computer read out of the account balance and send it to you as a monthly account statement. The cost to them of paper, ink and postage for maybe a page or two? 60 cents not 60 dollars.
